Language

In terms of languages, Latin America has such a poor level of English because it is not really a necessity. With the exception of Brazil we all speak the same language. In addition to this, the English classes taught at school prioritize the writing and listening part over the speaking part. In my case, I have had English classes since I was 4 years old, I can read, listen and write English and make myself understood. However, since I do not have the need to be understood by another person who speaks another language, my spoken skills are very bad. Despite this, I think I can make myself understood. The easiest thing I find about the English language is being able to be understood despite not having such an extensive vocabulary or handling so many strictly rules.  Even so, there are certain accents that are difficult for me to understand and this is precisely the part that complicates me. The movies have trained me to understand the most common and sometimes stereotyped accents, bu...

A job

B efore starting to study I had 3 jobs. The first was when I was 16,  the job was about something that was very common in Chile, packaging. which consisted of packaging or bagging people's products at the supermarket. As you can imagine, today, without bags in supermarkets, this work that was only done by underage students, disappeared. Fortunately, I was able to be in the period before this happened and be able to raise the money for what I wanted at that moment. My drums. After that, I had other jobs but nothing serious or that lasted more than 1 or 2 months. Last summer, given my interest in photography, I was invited to participate in a heritage photographic compilation project, with a photographer from my city, something that kept me very happy and focus at the work . So, if I could choose a dream job, this would be it . Putting together an exhibition and thinking of ways to present our work was something I loved. The art of presenting, of showing, is something that we are cer...
Music Since the pandemic I started the habit of listening to at least 1 album a day, it is something that totally takes me out of my routine, it is my ritual. The album I listened yesterday was philos by Park Jiha, an interesting work that mixes the fleeting nature of ambient with samples of different artists. Movies The other day I went to the Normandie cinema to see the movie that I think brings in tears  even to the harshest fascist. La memoria infinita, another masterpiece by maite alberdi that left me amazed. Blog I plan to travel to Germany in the summer and I started to learn German very very very very slowly. The two pages that I have occupied this time have been nicos Weg, which is a very interactive website to practice and the Easy German YouTube channel where I can familiarize myself with the language in a more fluid way. Without a doubt these two spaces have helped many people who have decided to migrate or learn the language. Museum Unfortunately I couldn't be in...

A Festival, Exhibition, concert or Show You Saw Since I was a kid I have been surrounded by music and gigs, my father use to play in a progressive rock band and in a cumbia band. He also its a classical guitar player, so my taste in music developed thanks to those particular mix of sounds. I always try to attend as many concerts as i can, especially the self-managed ones and obviously those organized by my friends. Nevertheless I have to attend once in the year a big gig with my father, thats a special tradition we have. I think the concert I enjoy the most was King Crimson on 2019, it was indescribable, taking out of the equation that they are monsters on their instruments, I never heard something like that before in a gig. Besides i born with the CD under my arm, so listen that 3 hours of concert with my father, his friends and my cousin was exciting. This 70s band had never played in Chile and South america before, along all of these years, therefor...

BLOG 4 - My dream job

Imagen
Sometimes we spend so much time thinking about what our ideal job would be, what topics we would like to investigate in the future, which I don't think is bad, in this way we are exploring our tastes and interests. But the reality is that you never know what you will find on the way, and I am not talking about destination, I mean that interests and tastes are constantly changing and it is something natural and I think that being closed to an idea does not allows exploration. In my case, studying architecture I have found many topics that I would like to investigate or work on in the future, and more and more topics are appearing, and I suppose that in the 4 years that I have left in my career, more and more will appear. So thinking about an ideal job at this point I think is unnecessary, even so I would like to share certain things that I imagine for the near future. Despite not being my ideal job as an architect, I would like to work for a couple of years in an architecture offic...

BLOG 3 - The Role of Technology in my Profession and Life

Imagen
Since I was a child I have not been very attached to technology, I could say that my relationship with her died with my dear play station 2, if we talk about a healthy relationship of course. I feel that my last 7 years I have been immersed in technology in a very insane way, who has not been mesmerized on instagram or some years ago, on facebook, doing nothing, consuming until feeling consumed, or worse, not realizing that we are consumed. Since this generation was born, it has been justified that technology is a very useful tool, and I do not deny it, but let's be honest, most of the time on the Internet we are not doing something of our own free will and if we add that the excess of information denies the meaning of things, we are consuming something that we cannot digest against our will. As an architecture student I have had to familiariza myself with the computer, contrary to how I thought, it has not been a bad experience, I think that seeing it as something I have to ...

BLOG 1: A PLACE I WOULD LIKE VISITING

Imagen
The truth is, I think tourism is quite complex because there are 2 cities, the one that is shown to us and the real one, in other words the tourist cities play to show only what they want to show. Thinking about which place I would like to visit, there is a case that catches my attention, which is New York. Despite having a fairly rigid urban model and that as it grows it generates a very high level of segregation, it has perhaps the highest level of cultural friction in the World. It is undeniable that New York is the epicenter of music, every musician, aspires to be in this city, this is what captivates me to know this city, as despite the evident social segregation reflected in the city (some theorists call it the urban jungle) there is such a dynamic arts movement If I could live in this place for a while, obviously I would visit the most iconic places where my favourite musicians have played, such as the blue note, village vanguard or birdland, but I think that in any club, espec...
